An Updated Flannel Napkin Square

Thanks to my new overlock machine I've updated my flannel napkin squares with rounded edges, and used an overlock stitch to hold the edge instead of double-folding and stitching. The makes for a smoother, more-even shape.

My New Serger!

It's been much too long since I've blogged, but don't worry because I've been busy using my new overlock machine! Not only was I lucky enough to be gifted this beautiful new machine, but it came from the very person who taught me to sew which gave way to this passion that I've had- thus it is a very meaningful gift that I will cherish.

Isn't she a beauty? Threading the needles couldn't be easier thanks to the color-coded diagrams. The booklet also has pictures of specific problems with the stitching and tells which needles' tension to adjust, which as you know can really help you get the machine back to the right tension and sewing properly in much less time than troubleshooting on your own.

Tea Bag Wallets

So cute and just in time for the Holidays! I love these tea bag wallets and use one myself. They're especially useful when its cold outside and all that you want is something to warm your bones and soul! Makes a great gift for that friend or colleague that loves tea, and you can fill it with their favorite kinds.

Every. Single. Day.

A friend of mine shared this on FB the other day and I liked it so much I printed it out and hung it up. Sometimes it can be challenging to motivate yourself into doing something, like me for example with trying to get this sewing business up and running while still having another very busy job. However, if we can just vocalize what it is that we want and create an attainable plan it is possible. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO!

Gathered Clutches

I'm finally catching back up to my normal life after a beautiful trip to Moab in October, and just in time for the holidays, too! I've been making and giving out these clutches to friends and family for quite some time now, and have enjoyed watching others put them to good use. It seems that each of my friends has their own use with them: holding tampons in a purse, pens and pencils in a backpack, toiletries when traveling, coupon holder and the list goes on and on! Small and simple, but still stylish with a cute gathered fabric front. Get one for a friend, but also treat yourself :)

Keep checking back for more fabrics: all of my items are unique and one-of-a-kind, so grab a design you love while it's still available!

Bubble Dresses in Action!

At the last minute I was able to book a trip back to my home state of Maine and attend my friends wedding, who also recruited me to sew  dresses for two little ladies in her wedding. As per State Park regulations the girls were not allowed to throw flower petals, so instead they blew bubbles! The dresses fit them perfectly, and they looked awfully cute if I don't say so myself :)

It was a long project for me as it was something I haven't done before (sewing silk dresses based on measurements only), but I couldn't be happier with the outcome! Who knows, maybe I'll sew more dresses in the future...

Reusable Snack Bags Ready to Ship!

I'm back from my vacations and ready to get more sewing items onto my Etsy shop! I've just listed some reusable snack bags, all lined with cotton. The cotton liner is best for drier snack objects (I will make more nylon lined bags in the future).

Tailoring for the Groom

Another project to add to the books: tailoring a jacket and vest for a groom. The sleeves needed to be shortened about an inch; a simple eye hook was requested so that the front of the jacket would stay closed when desired; and the vest needed to be taken in about an inch (too wide). Simple project consisting mainly of pressing and hand stitching. All stitching was done in a way so that it can be removed and the items returned to original size if desired.
